Asus has been a company which has attracted me a lot for motherboards and a lot of professional review sites have written about it a lot. Initial attractions had been towards the 'P5B' (Newegg).
And then Intel released the P35 chipset. This chipset supports the next memory line DDR3 and supports a Front-Side-Bus (FSB) of 1333 MHz (it was 1066 till now). It can also take Penryn, the next line of processors from Intel on a 45nm fabrication process (which is due by Q1 2008 for desktops).
So, the new Asus favourite is 'P5K' - an entry into the main motherboards segment. Newegg says
it costs $135, which should be ~INR 5500 here.
I don't know much about what it does, but many praise it :-). Now, Tom's has used it for its System Builder Marathon.
